The Next Step:
Apparently, we need to gain clarity before embarking on this journey.

Hi, it is another newsletter from your favorite substacker ✨
I have been thinking about something since my last post.
We said we are starting this journey of self-development and self-discovery. It sounds nice. It sounds serious. But I kept asking myself one thing.
Where do we even begin?
Because starting over is one thing. Starting well is another thing entirely.
And I think that is where most of us get stuck.
We want to change and grow but everything feels scattered. You have ideas in your head, plans you have thought about, things you know you should be doing… but nothing is really clear.
That confusion? That is what we need to fix first.
We don’t need motivation or discipline just yet.
We need clarity!
Because if you do not know what you are doing or why you are doing it, it is very easy to stop halfway.
So instead of rushing into “fixing our lives”, I think our first step should be much simpler.
We need to sit down and be honest with ourselves.
That is where journaling comes in.
And I do not mean writing random thoughts just for the sake of it.
I mean actually asking yourself questions you have probably been avoiding.
Things like:
What am I really trying to change?
Why does it even matter to me?
Is this something I truly want, or something I feel like I should want?
What parts of my life actually need attention right now?
And when you start answering these questions, you will notice something.
Things begin to make sense. It might not be perfect, but you start to see a direction
That is the point.
Because I realized something recently.
Having a goal is not enough.
You can have the best intentions and still feel stuck if you do not know how to move.
So instead of just saying “I want to be better”, I am trying to break things down for myself.
What exactly does “better” mean for me?
What areas of my life need work?
And what can I realistically start doing now?
It is not as neat as it sounds.
Some answers are clear, some are not, and some might even be uncomfortable.
But I think that is part of the process. We already made it clear that growth isn’t linear.
So, if you are following this journey with me, this is what I want you to do for now.
Do not overthink it.
Just sit down, open your notes or a journal, and start asking yourself these questions.
Be honest, even if the answers do not sound nice.
You do not need a perfect plan yet.
You just need a starting point that makes sense to you.
We will figure out the rest as we go.

One important tip I will give you is to never journal on your laptop, a locked journal, or something that requires even the tiniest of technicality.
The reason might seem stupid.
I don’t know if it is psychological, but there is something about locked journals that make me not want to open them. Maybe I am just too lazy to open them, or I am scared of what I will discover in them.
I have this leather journal that comes with a rope, and honestly, I can’t remember the last time I opened it.
The same applies to a laptop. I never find it comfortable to open a closed document.
Furthermore, it does not have to be a fancy journal.
You can make use of a jotter or a book. Just make sure you have easy access to whatever you are using.
I think this step is crucial because I value a solid foundation.
Everything will not always be rosy and that is why it is important to have something to fall back on.
Something that keeps you in check, and at the same time has the ability to bounce you back.
In the next post, I will share something I am putting together to make this process easier and less overwhelming.
But for now, this is enough.
